About Beaverbrook, Kanata
Beaverbrook is located in the northern ward of Kanata; Knudson Drive to the east, March Road to the west and north of Highway 417. There's a total population of about 5,182 residents at 2011 Census.
Beaverbrook is Kanata's oldest residential neighbourhood, founded by builder Bill Teron, considered the "Father of Kanata" who bought 3,000 acres of land outside the Greenbelt and set about building the model Garden community of Kanata in the 1960s. Since that time, other builders who contributed to Kanata are Richcraft, Holitzner and Urbandale.
This area is very close to the Kanata Golf & Country Club in neighbouring Kanata Lakes and various parks and green spaces. The unique housing and mature trees on oversized lots continues to make Beaverbrook one of Kanata's most sought-after neighbourhoods.
Community Centres:
Kanata Beaverbrook Community Centre, operated by the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association provides meeting and activity rooms at reasonable rates with internet and air purifiers that residents can enjoy year-round, including free parking.
John G. Mlacak Community Centre, recently renovated and operated by the City of Ottawa, it offers a wide variety of recreation programs, including summer camps and guitar lessons, in addition to the Kanata Senior Centre, arena and public library. The space is ideal for meetings, gatherings and social events.
Shopping:
- Kanata Centrum Shopping Center is a major retail hub with loads of dining, major brands like Loblaws, Walmart, Chapters, LCBO, as well as the Landmark Cinemas.
- Signature Centre includes retailers like Farm Boy and Shoppers Drug Mart, as well as specialty shops like The Unrefined Olive, Tweed and Hickory, and Grace in the Kitchen and Trudel Home Hardware
- Other shopping and malls are fairly close-by via Eagleson to Kanata Town Centre, via Hazeldean Road to Stittsville or Robertson Road to Bells Corners, the Queensway east to Bayshore, or west to Tanger Outlets.
