About Overbrook
The small, residential neighbourhood of Overbrook has a population of nearly 10,000 (Canada Census 2011). Developers refer to this area as an “up and coming” neighbourhood that is located minutes from downtown Ottawa. The boundaries are McArthur Avenue, Rideau River, Queensway and Vanier Parkway, with close proximity to the Rideau Sports Centre.
Residential home and condo prices have quadrupled since 2000 and most recently, the average home price in 2021 is up 15% over 2020 to $619K. Over 50% of the homes were built prior to 1960, with infill developments, low-rise condominiums, new homes and fully renovated homes.
Ottawa Community Housing has a presence in 5 Overbrook communities dating back to the early 1950s, with 1,000 apartments on 50 acres, serving 2,900 tenants as of 2021. They will continue to renew and modernize their parcels over the next 10-20 years in a phased approach, working with city stakeholders.
2022 marks Overbrook's centennial anniversary and the Overbrook Community Association is working on a variety of projects to tell their story, provide engaging community activities and celebrate 100 years.
