About Glen Cairn & Hazeldean, Kanata

One of Kanata’s original neighbourhoods, Glencairn is located west of Eagleson Road, south of Hazeldean Road, east of Terry Fox Drive and north of Fernbank Road. Glen Cairn is one of Kanata's more established neighbourhoods, and built in the 1960s. According to the 2016 Canada Census, Glen Cairn had a population of 11,836. This neighbourhood is a quieter, family-friendly area of Ottawa with larger lots and mature, tree-lined streets.

Home to great local resources including 2 grocery stores, 4 specialty food stores, many restaurants and recreational sites including local parks as well as walking, hiking and biking trails. These neighbourhoods usually see 130-140 homes sell, on average every year, with a high of 167 homes in 2002 and currently sitting at 140 in 2021.

Glen Cairn and Hazeldean saw home prices increase right up until 2014, when we saw a decrease of $6,000 on the average home. In 2015 it rebounded with an increase, swiftly followed by another drop in 2016, then a nice 9.9% increase in 2017. In the last few years, we've seen steady growth to an almost 20% average price increase in 2021 to $564,487.
