About Drummond / North Elmsley
Located between the towns of Perth and Smiths Falls on the north shore of the Rideau River, the rural township of Drummond/North Elmsley is located in eastern Ontario's in central Lanark County (Ontario's Maple Syrup capital). It's boundaries include the historic Rideau River to the south and the Mississippi River to the northwest. It also includes the Hamlets of Port Elmsley, Innisville, Balderson, Wayside, Drummond Centre, Ferguson's Falls and Rideau Ferry. In the southern portion of the municipality you'll find many lakes, mixed forests, rivers, rolling hills and very fertile farmland.
It's home to world champion equestrian show jumper Ian Millar and is the southern gateway to Lanark County's "Maple Syrup Trail".
Owing to its location, between the Mississippi River and the Rideau River, wetlands and forests, the area has a vast array of wildlife for viewing, including the Gray ratsnake and the Blanding's turtle.
Familiar wetlands include Tay Marsh (south of Perth) and The Swale (near Smiths Falls). Many of the smaller wetlands throughout the county are produced by beavers. The beaver ponds also provide habitat for other species like frogs, turtles, otters, muskrats and migratory waterfowl.

According to Census 2021, the population was 3,287, up 5.3% from 2016. The median age is now 50 for both males and females, and the median income in 2016 of $81,303.
