About Central Park
Central Park was a fairly new, developing neighbourhood around early 2000's as you can see from the number of sales, only 14 in 2000. This quickly increased up to an average of around 70 or 80 sales since 2006.
Central Park is located in the West End of Ottawa and has some older homes as well as a newer development that was built around 2000. You can pick up a cheaper older townhouse, or a large newer single family home over $700,000. Central Park is a bit of an oddity in a good way. It's considered newer construction for that part of Ottawa. It's got the Experimental Farm to it's south and east with a paved bike trail that runs to the west or right down town to the Chateau Laurier.
However there is a lower socio-economic neighbourhood with lots of rentals and subsidized housing immediately to it's north in Carlington Park. This neighbourhood has been making newspaper headlines in the past few years, for all the wrong reasons! Central Park is a great location for transit and shopping. The Queensway is a few minutes away by going north on Maitland Ave. There's about every kind of shopping one would need on Merivale Road and the newer plaza built at Baseline and Clyde Ave. where the old Laurentian High School used to be.
