About Centrepointe
Centrepointe is a residential subdivision in the west end of Ottawa with detached single-family houses, townhomes and apartments. Its informal bounds include Baseline Road to the north, Woodroffe Avenue to the east, the CN railroad to the south, and the Briargreen subdivision to the west.
Much of it was built between 1985 and 1990, making it an area of “newer” homes within the Greenbelt. Home prices have doubled in the last 10 years, with one of the largest average price jumps of just over 15% in 2021 to $651,633.
At the Canada 2016 Census, the population of Centrepointe was 7,245.
Schools in the area include Briargreen Public School, Manordale Public School, Knoxdale Public School (with French Immersion programs), and Sir Robert Borden High School.
This community features Ben Franklin Place; a City of Ottawa complex that houses the Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, a branch of the Ottawa Public Library and an outdoor skating rink. There are also a number of bike paths, parks and schools in the area
It’s a short commute by bus or car to shopping centres like Bayshore, College Square Mall, Carlingwood Mall, and the malls and services along the length of Merivale Road. It’s conveniently located for students close to both the Algonquin College campus and the Baseline station transitway.
The installation of the Algonquin College footbridge has increased the safety for pedestrians and students trying to access the transitway on the other side of the very busy Woodroffe Avenue.
Baseline station is expected to be the terminus of Stage 2 of the LRT Confederation Line, which is slated for completion in 2023.
