About Castle Heights
Castle Heights/Rideau High is a family-friendly neighbourhood located on the east side of St. Laurent Boulevard and south of Donald Street with a very short commute to downtown. It's located close to shopping and restaurants on St. Laurent Boulevard.
It features mature, good-sized properties on large lots, with homes built in the 1950s and '60s by Campeau and Minto. There were 3 types of houses built in the area: the rather boxy 2-storey foursquare, the 1 1/2-storey, Cape Cod style and bungalows. With mostly traditional architecture, you'll see hints of mid-century modern, with the introduction of corner windows, in vogue at the time, allowing for large, picture windows at the front of the house. The neighbourhood has undergone gentrification in recent years with development of semi-detached doubles and duplex multi-family properties.
Excellent Public Transit is within a 5-minute walk to the St. Laurent Station offering bus or O-Train Confederation Line service, making travel easy and convenient.
