Approximately 7,300 people live in Beacon Hill South, a primarily residential neighbourhood with single family homes on larger lots, townhomes and condominiums. It’s located in the east end of Ottawa just inside the Greenbelt, bordered by Montreal Rd. Hwy # 174 and Blair Rd. Across from Blair station is the Gloucester Centre with many amenities including a grocery store and gym

Many of the homes were constructed in the late 1960’s and 1970’s but you will see pockets of newer construction throughout the neighbourhood. LRT (Light Rapid Transit) that is scheduled for completion in 2018 will begin at Blair station where residents can quickly commute downtown and towards the west end of the city. But for those who prefer to drive, highway 417 is easily accessible. OC Transpo also services the area with regular and express buses.

Beacon Hill South is a bilingual community with a mix of Anglophone and Francophone schools. Amongst them is Colonel By, the only English public school in Ottawa that offers the IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma programme and is ranked as the number one secondary school in the city. This is located on Ogilvie Rd. north of Montreal Rd. There is no shortage of green space in this neighbourhood with many bike paths and walking trails.
