More information about the larger area of Orleans

Orleans now has an approximate population 110,000 people with a significant portion being Francophone. This Eastern Suburb is as big as Kanata and about 25% larger than Barrhaven.

Orleans has excellent educational facilities including four high schools. There's also the Ray Friel Recreation Complex on Tenth Line Road, which has 3 NHL size arenas, a wavepool, restaurant, karate dojo, 20,000 square feet for fitness equipment and an attached library. The Cumberland Bandits call this their home.

You get a great view of the Gatineau Side from the top of Trim Road, and farther down Trim towards the Ottawa River you'll find Petrie Island, with it's sandy beaches. Brigil has also built a condo tower here with plans to build more in the future. These condos have superb views from all units.

As well as the new condo towers, there are also a whole bunch of Terrace Homes, or Stacked Condos, like the Ones below.

Princess Louisse Falls can be found between Tenth Line and Trim Road, along St. Joseph, you'll need to park on the shoulder to stop and have a look or snap a photo.

Besides the usual shopping and restaurants common to all suburban areas Orleans also has a 500 seat performing arts hall called the Shenkman Centre, which includes Live Performances, Instruction, Exhibitions and Special Events. All services and programs are in both English and French.

There is a municipal tax incentive for businesses to locate and employ people in Orleans because unlike its neighbours, it has had employment challenges in this regard.

Parts of the area sit on deposits of Leda clay left over from when the Champlain Sea covered this part of North America, which has caused occasional housing problems. We can help you avoid these areas.

There's a lot of construction going on here, residential as well as the commercial strip along Inness Road, where you'll find all the big outlets, as well as the new Movato Athletic Club, Rona and a new Landmark Movie Theatre, with 10 movie screens.

The largest indoor mall would be Place d'Orleans with over 180 Brand Name Stores.

If you're not sure about the area, we can help guide you to the neighbourhoods that will best suit your needs. The commute time to downtown Ottawa can be done in 15-20 minutes, but that can double during rush hours. You can also take the bus, and use the Park-And-Ride.
