Manotick is a charming village along the Rideau River, only 15 kilometres south of Ottawa, Moss Kent Dickenson in 1864 named it after the Ojibwa word for island in the river. It was settled in the 1830s for the purpose of logging, milling and trading after the Rideau Canal was constructed

Burrits Rapids

Named after Stephen Burrits; his family was the first to settle in the area, is located on the Rideau River in Eastern Ontario.There is a lock to bypass the rapids located here for boaters


Is a village located on the Rideau River and was formerly known as Wellington Village but was renamed in 1856 due to another village named Wellington in Prince Edward County

Due to the small size of the village most residents work in the City of Ottawa

Mahogany Community

A sub neighbourhood in Manotick Originally planned by Minto to have 1,800 homes built but was cut down to 1,400 due to the opposition of residents afraid of losing its small town ambience. The growth has been cut down to 70 homes per year for better growth assimilation

North Gower

Formerly known as Stephensville and was first settled by Stephen Blanchard in 1820. In 1866 North Gower was a post village located on Stephens Creek.

Now amalgamated into the City of Ottawa it has a Population of around 11,000 for the township.
